What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. Because the aligners are removable, you can continue to eat your favorite foods while brushing and flossing to keep your teeth and gums health. The best part about the whole process is that most people won't even know you're straightening your teeth.
Is Dr. Valley experienced with the Invisalign system?
Our office is proud to announce that Dr. Valley was one of the first orthodontists in the world to be certified with Invisalign, and the first orthodontist in Marin County to use the technique. Dr. Valley has worked closely with Align technology since the company’s founding in 1998. She has presented to audiences around the country and abroad, teaching doctors and orthodontic residents how to use the technique. As an Associate Professor at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (where the first clinical trials on Invisalign were performed), Dr. Valley works closely with other professors and residents on the latest innovations with this method of treatment.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign utilizes 3-D computer imaging technology to transform impressions of your teeth into a series of customized plastic aligners.
Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks.
They are removed only to eat, brush, and floss.
As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they reach the final alignment that Dr. Valley has prescribed.
The number of aligners you wear depends on the severity of crowding or spacing you have.
