Before Your Consultation Visit

In an effort to make your first visit as informative and efficient as possible, we invite you to complete the new patient forms. We will send the forms to you by mail, or you have the option of downloading them from our website.  Please bring these completed forms to your appointment.

At Your Consultation Visit

At your first visit you will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Valley and our team, learn more about orthodontics and what this means for you or your child. During this initial visit, we will:

  • Review your new patient forms, including your dental and medical history

  • Take photographs

  • Provide a complete oral exam

  • Determine whether orthodontic treatment is beneficial

  • Discuss various treatment options

  • Create a customized treatment plan, including the appropriate time to begin treatment and also the estimated length of treatment

  • Discuss all financial information, insurance benefits and payment plans

  • Answer any questions you may have

What Happens After Your Consultation Visit?

The next step after your consultation appointment is to get standard orthodontic records.  These consist of x-rays, photographs and impressions or a 3D scan of your teeth.  From these records, Dr. Valley will be able to put together your most appropriate and detailed orthdontic treatment plan.  All records and a full report will be sent to your dentist.  We also recommend that you get a complete dental examination and cleaning at your dentist's office so that we know your teeth and gums are healthy and no restorative work is required.  Once these steps are completed, you will get started on achieving the smile you've always wanted!

Scheduling Appointments

Visiting the orthodontist about every four to eight weeks is an important part of your orthodontic treatment.  These appointments can vary, but are approximately 30 minutes long.  We understand that life is busy and will work with you to make sure your appointments are scheduled as conveniently as possible for you.

Visiting your Dentist during Orthodontic Treatment

It is very important that you continue to visit your dentist once every six months, even during your orthodontic treatment, for teeth cleanings and routine dental checkups. If extra dental care is needed, we will be happy to coordinate with your family dentist to make sure that you are receiving the best care possible.
